Health Information Strategy

Hauora Taranaki PHO wanted to progress a number of health information initiatives but were not sure of the best approach.

I met with them to look at their requirements, understand the environment in which they operate, and made recommendations in the areas of Governance, Architecture, and Projects.

Issues addressed include:

• patient and provider privacy
• information sharing between clinicians
• district wide alignment of I.T. initiatives
• population health
• primary care engagement
• systematic approaches to programmes
• effective use of technology
• hosted practice management system technology
• claims processing
• electronic referrals (e-referrals).
